Lady Lakers fall to West Catholic, 0-3

On Tuesday, September 22, the Lakers’ Varsity Volleyball team played the West Catholic Falcons at home in their third conference match of the season. The Lakers fought hard, but came up short losing in three tough sets. There was tons of effort put forth by the lady Lakers, and great plays from all players on the Laker’s side, but it wasn’t enough to match West Catholic’s game.

Some key players were Libero Kendra Kieft leading with 4 Aces and 18 digs and Julia Zonca with another 13 digs. Alicia Mumby led the Lakers in kills with a total of 7, while Kali Lewkowski and Emma Nicles both added another 5.

In the last set, the Lakers came up from a large point deficit to take the score to 19-21, West Catholic up by a mere 2 points in the third (and final) set. The Lakers gave it their all for the entire game, but ended up coming short in the last 4 points.

The Lakers fought hard and will continue to fight in their upcoming games. The Lakers have 2 conference games this coming week. One against Allendale on Tuesday, September 29th, and Holland Christian on Thursday, October 1st. All games are live streamed on the Spring Lake Volleyball facebook page.
