Lakers Crush Opponents at Spring Lake Swim Invitational
Last week, on September 12, the Lakers hosted the Spring Lake Swim Invitational at home. They were led by senior team captains Eliza Hulverson, Zoe Komar, and Sara Strauss. The teams that attended the invitational were the Ludington Orioles, the Manistee Chippewas, and the Fremont Packers. The Lakers finished in first place with a final score of 385 points, with Ludington coming in second, and Fremont finishing last.
The swimmers started the day off strong with a medley relay that consisted of senior Eliza Hulverson, senior Sara Strauss, senior Zoe Komar, and junior Leila Kahler coming in first place overall with a time of 1:58.46. Senior Eve Geschiere came in first place overall in the 100-meter freestyle, with a time of 1:01.29, a personal record for Ms. Geschiere. Freshman Bella Boodt swam strongly in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:14.91, coming in 3rd place overall.
This week, the Lakers swim against Grand Rapids Catholic Central at home. The team hopes to take another “W” this Tuesday at 6:30pm at the Spring Lake Aquatic Center.
