OK Blue Jamboree #2 - Cross Country

On Tuesday, October 6th, Spring Lake’s Boys’ Cross Country team took first place in the OK Blue Jamboree #2 conference, while the Lady Lakers took second to Allendale. The boys ended with an incredible score of 42, while the girls ended with a 47, second to Allendale’s 41.

Spring Lake’s boys had several top scorers for all races. In the 5,000 Meters A, junior Ian Hill took first place running a 15:59.47, while Callen Carrier took 5th with a 16:47.82. In the 5,000 Meters B, sophomore Tanner Guczwa took first running a 18:19.09 with freshman Lucas Ruffing, senior Kyle Wakerley, and junior Andre-Ross Gennette placing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th behind him. Junior Kreegan Deverney and senior Jack Parker also placed 6th and 7th. In the 5,000 Meters JV Overflow, sophomore Ethan Grevengoed placed first running a 18:52.87, with freshman Grayson Carpenter placing 2nd, and senior Tyler Munch and junior Nino Padula placing 4th and 6th.

The Lady Lakers also ran extremely strong races. In the 5,000 Meters 8, freshman Nora Boufford took first place running a 19:27.25. Sophomore Lily Parker placed second with a 19:34.60, while freshman Bea Reeser took 10th. In the 5,000 Meters B race, junior Makaela Schmidt took first place running a 22:38.68 with junior Anna Stempky, junior Jennifer Judge, and freshman Maya Noren placing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Freshman Kyla Koert also placed 11th. In the 5,000 Meters JV Overflow, junior Clair Czadzeck took first place running a 24:27.10 with junior Kaiya Theune, freshman Katie Riemersma, freshman Megan Norton, junior Lizzy Koratich, junior Peyton Parsons, and junior Reegan Decator also took 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 11th (in order).

Overall, both of the Lakers’ teams ran phenomenally. Sophomore Giselle Cossey says, “I loved seeing the Lakers run from all over the course. They all did amazing and I’m so proud of my team.”

The next meet that the Lakers will run at is the OK Blue Jamboree #3 on Tuesday, October 20th which will be hosted by our very own Lakers. Be sure to wish the Cross Country team luck when you see them in the hallways!
