Tennis Season Wrap-Up
The Boys’ Varsity Tennis team wrapped up their season last Wednesday with a tough miss on a shot at States. Forest Hills Eastern ended up with an overall win with Spring Lake in a close second. Spring Lake’s one doubles, senior Callum Saxe and senior Teddy Hylant, were the only players to take first place with the rest of the team close behind. Conferences were held at Spring Lake a week in advance leaving Spring Lake boys tennis to take fourth place. The team's overall record was seven and nine with each match a tough fight and each player was happy to have a full season.
This year, the team was made up of mostly seniors, leaving sophomores Eli Tosterud and Max Witherall to run next year's season as one and two singles. Being happy for a season, Coach Duer says, “It was a unique season with some crazy moments but very thankful we were able to play… especially with the twelve seniors on the team. They will be missed and we have some work to do next year but I feel confident in the talent coming up.” Seniors were happy to have one last season before they are off to college and plan to celebrate their last season this week with a banquet off-site on Tuesday.
As a team captain, I along with the rest of the team, want to thank both Coach Duer and Coach Stoll for a great last three years and for putting up with all our trouble.
