Village Baker Successfully Hosts Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest was held on Saturday, October 2nd and it took place at the Spring Lake Village baker. They had a band who played all day, but took breaks for the Spring Lake high School’s choir to sing at the event.

The event took place throughout the whole day. Oktoberfest is a festival that celebrates a wedding that took place 200 years ago. It was for the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, who then later became King Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.

People celebrate by drinking, feasting, and horse races.

So, what the Village Baker does is they set up a tent and they have different foods from Germany. They also set up a petting zoo that is able to show you animals that you would have seen at an Oktoberfest in Germany.

Aaron Polet is the Spring Lake Choir director. He was at the event directing his 2 choirs - Bella Voce, and Singers. Mr. Polet states, “The choirs had a lot of fun preparing the music for Oktoberfest but I don’t think we were fully expecting how much fun we would have singing and performing for the parents and community members. It was a blast and we can’t wait to participate again!”

During Oktoberfest, if you went you were able to see people of all ages attending. You also had people in their full Oktoberfest attire that were able to sing along with the band. The children were running around and making buttons and eating the food they had set up. Ava Davidson says, “It was a lot of fun.”
